How to Do Real Competitor Keyword Analysis
The real value of competitor keyword data is finding the gap between what they target and what you target. Run this tool on 3-5 competitors in your niche, combine the results, and look for keywords that appear on multiple competitor sites but not on yours. Those are the keywords the niche considers essential - and every one you are missing is traffic leaking to someone else.
Do not try to copy a competitor's entire keyword list. Large competitors rank for thousands of terms you do not have the authority to compete for. Instead, filter their list: low competition, under 5,000 search volume, and commercial intent. That subset is the keyword gap you can realistically close in the next 6 months.
Analyze 3-5 competitors
One competitor's data is anecdotal. Overlap across 3-5 competitors reveals the keywords the whole niche agrees are worth targeting.
Find the keyword gap
Subtract your own keyword list from theirs. The difference is your roadmap - keywords the market values that you do not yet cover.
Weight by intent
Prioritize keywords with commercial or transactional intent (look for CPC $3+). Informational gaps are worth filling too, but later.
Track content coverage
Rather than creating hundreds of thin pages, map each keyword gap to either a new page or an existing page that should be updated to target it.
